Guardian Ad Litem Policies
Annual Registration  Fee Waiver
In cases of financial hardship, a guardian ad litem (GAL)may  request that the GAL Review Board waive the annual registration fee obligation  provided for in Rule 8(a) of the Maine Rules for Guardians ad Litem by  submitting a written request to the Executive Director of the Board of  Overseers of the Bar.  The request shall  contain a full explanation of the circumstances necessitating such a  waiver.  Upon review of the waiver  request and any supporting documents, the Executive Director may grant a  license fee waiver.  If the Executive  Director denies the waiver, the GAL shall have 30 days from the date of denial  to submit a request to the Executive Director for reconsideration by the Chair  or the Vice Chair of the GAL Review Board.
